and you think your life sucks??

I just had this experience at work and I thought I would share it with everyone.. for those of you who don't know I work for the state doing eligibilty for welfare, which most of the time I really enjoy because I get to help people in need, except for times like today I was not able to help, but was able to learn a great lesson!!
I was doing my normal phone shift and got a call from a customer in tears. She has two kids and had given her mother custody of one of her children ( I am not sure why--i forgot). Her mother (grandma) is receiving benefits for the child, which means that the state will go after the absent mother/parent for child support. She isn't getting any child support from her ex either. The customer has suffered from a lot of domestic violence and is unable to work because of medical reasons. She has recently moved back in with her mom (they do not get along well at all) because she was having a hard time getting by. Because she has moved in with her mom, it makes the mother (grandma) not eligible to get these benefits, because there is no longer deprivation for the child. She started crying even harder and then said that her mom was going to kick her out because of this and she would have nowhere to go! She didn't know what she was going to do and extremely upset and frustrated, which I would be too. Then it hit me.. ARE YOU SERIOUS THAT YOUR OWN MOTHER WOULD DO WHATEVER BENEFITS HER THE MOST TO KICK you.. HER DAUGHTER.. OUT ON THE STREETS?
I know that my parents would NEVER in a million years do this to me!
This whole time I am feeling so bad for her and thinking how sad it is that people really have to live like this! I wished that I could do something to help her, but I have to follow the rules and policies that go with my job. Then i was thinking... WOW!!! I know that my life is not picture perfect either, but at least my parents/family would not do that to me and would support me and try to do whatever they could to help if I was in that situation. so I guess in summary, I just wanted to say thank you to my family for all the support and love that I have had from them and I know that I can count on you!!
I THINK THAT THIS JOB
HAS REALLY HELPED ME TO SEE WHAT THINGS I REALLY SHOULD NOT TAKE FOR GRANTED
AND THAT I TRULY AM BLESSED!!!
I want all of you to go tell your parents/family and heavenly father thank you for giving you the wonderful life that you have!! Yes, I know that we all have our issues, struggles and problems, but imagine what it would be like without any support from loved ones. And remember next time when you want to complain about the small things... remember how much more life sucks for her!
The support and love from our families is something that we definately should not take for granted!!
Love you all!!
