...Camera Suggestions...

I am realizing that I really need to get with it and get my new camera bought. I am not happy with the pictures from Brandon's graduation and for that reason, really ready to buy a camera. I have the money, just haven't wanted to do all the research to make sure I get a GOOD, NICE camera and my money's worth.

I am leaning towards a point and shoot camera that might be a little more advanced. I really want one that has high speed response, but I am thinking I might be asking for too much.
I read that higher megapixel isn't always better and same with zoom.
I need other opinions and suggestions on what to look for!!
HELP!!

Graduation and other pictures are coming SOON!!

Hey-

I really can't claim that I know too much...but I do know a few things from my own research. You are right. Higher megapixels doesn't mean much at all. If it has 9-10...it is plenty to blow up a picture to poster size extremely clear. It is more how WELL you take the picture...than how many pixels.

Also-I would buy a camera that has the ability to eventually shoot in Manual, TV or AV as you learn and get better at photography but is also easy to use on AUTO right when you get it. One that kind of grows with you. I love mine for that reason. I have improved a lot over the last year...but I knew exactly how to take a good picture when I got it! I keep learning and learning and it still has capabilities beyond mine:) Do some research about lenses...because although some people buy Nikons for "status" (just my opinion) the Canons are adaptable to ALL lenses and the Nikons are ONLY adaptable to Nikon lenses which are SOOO expensive.

wow. Sorry so long. Hope that helps.

Honestly? I'd tell you to go to a couple of stores and talk to the sales people; I bought my camera from Fred Myer, and the guy there was SO HELPFUL--he told me about different features and everything, and let me make my own decision.

That's all I have to say on the subject...

With 9-10 megapixels you could get your pictures to billboard size. You really only 6-8 to get poster size. And I have a Nikon with a cheaper / non-nikon lense, but Nikons and Cannons are not really point and click. Both brands are better than Sony though. Good Luck!!!

We have a Nikon. We love it, but I seriously don't know how to use most of the stuff on it. The pictures are always good quality though and it's fast so we can actually get good pictues of our kids. I would say a Nikon or a Canon would be great. :)

When Joe and I talked to the guys at Best Buy! he said Nikon's are not good camera's stay away from them. I have not heard good things from them at all. A lot of you your friends commented about them. Sorry, that is what I have heard. Our cousin is a professional photographer and she said Nikon are not good. They are not reliable at all. Cannon is the way to go. Sony also is very good too. We love our sony.
